Create an eBay Listing From Photos and Your Voice: Snap It, Say It, Review It

Want to create an eBay listing from photos without typing every detail? With VoiceListAI, you shoot photos, describe the item out loud, tap Analyze, and get a reviewable eBay draft. You check it, fix anything, and post it yourself.

What is VoiceListAI and how does it create an eBay listing from photos?

VoiceListAI is an eBay-only listing tool. It combines your photos with what you say about the item and turns them into a ready-to-review eBay draft. You stay in control: nothing goes live until you approve it.

The idea is simple: Snap it. Say it. It's live. The tool was built for sellers with more items than time, such as thrift and estate-sale resellers, people clearing closets and garages, and full-time sellers listing dozens of items a week. It is also made for sellers who dislike typing or aren't comfortable with technology.

It works with eBay only. It does not cross-list to other marketplaces.

How does it work, step by step?

The process has three steps: take photos while describing the item, tap Analyze, and review the draft. Each step is short, and the final decision is always yours.

  1. Shoot and talk. Take photos of the item, including tags, labels and model numbers. Describe it out loud (or type if you prefer).
  2. Tap Analyze. The AI reads your photos and your words together.
  3. Review the draft. Check the title, category, item specifics, condition notes and description. Edit anything, then post.

For a deeper walkthrough, the VoiceListAI guide covers the app in detail.

Step 1: How do you talk while you shoot?

Take your photos and describe the item in your own words as you go. If you would rather type, you can do that instead. Voice is simply faster for most people, and it keeps small details that typing tends to skip.

On iPhone, one thing works differently: voice comes right after the camera closes, not at the same time as the photos. The article on using VoiceListAI on iPhone explains the flow.

Because you can do this right where you find the item, you can list while you thrift and refine later. Take the photos in the parking lot, say what you know, and review the draft when you have a few minutes.

What should you say about the item?

Say the facts a buyer would ask about. You do not need a script. A good spoken description covers:

  • Brand and the model or style name, if you know it
  • Size and measurements that matter
  • Color or pattern
  • Flaws, such as a missing button, a scuff or a small stain
  • What's included, such as the box, cords, charger or manual
  • What buyers ask, such as a smoke-free home or whether it was tested and works

Your words matter because a photo cannot show everything. The article what a photo cannot tell buyers and how to say it goes through this in more depth. You can also say your SKU and price as you list, covered in say your SKU and price as you list.

Step 2: What happens when you tap Analyze?

When you tap Analyze, the AI reads your photos, including tags, labels and model numbers, and combines them with what you said. It then builds an eBay draft for you to review, rather than posting anything on its own.

How do your words and photos become the right category and item specifics?

The photos show what the item looks like and any printed text. Your voice adds what a camera can't see. VoiceListAI uses both to choose an eBay category and fill in item specifics, using eBay's categories and allowed values.

If your words and the photos seem to disagree, your words win. You know the item in your hands better than any guess from an image.

Good titles and item specifics help buyers find your listing. For more on that, see how to write eBay titles and item specifics that get found.

Step 3: What should you check in the draft?

Review the whole draft before posting. Look at the title, category, item specifics, condition notes and description, and correct anything that is off. The draft is a fast starting point, and you make the final call.

A quick review checklist:

  • Does the title include the brand, item type and key details?
  • Is the category right for this item?
  • Are the item specifics correct, and are any left empty that you can fill in?
  • Do the condition notes mention every flaw you said out loud?
  • Does the description match the item and what is included?

You can also use the similar-item price check on eBay. It shows asking prices for similar items, not sold prices, so treat it as a reference point rather than a promise of what your item will sell for.

Why does it leave fields empty instead of guessing?

When VoiceListAI isn't sure about a field, it leaves it empty rather than inventing an answer. It does not claim to fill in every field. That keeps wrong information out of your listing, and you approve every post before it goes live.

This matters on eBay, where a wrong brand, size or model can lead to returns and unhappy buyers. An empty field is easy to see and fill in. A confident wrong guess is easy to miss.

How does this compare with other ways to list?

Listing by hand gives you full control but takes time. Other tools solve different problems. This table shows where VoiceListAI fits.

Approach What it is good at Where it differs from VoiceListAI
Typing every listing by hand Total control Slow, and details get skipped when you're tired
General AI chat tools (e.g. ChatGPT) Drafting descriptions They don't know eBay categories, required fields or allowed values
Cross-listing tools (e.g. Vendoo, List Perfectly) Listing across multiple marketplaces Focused on multi-marketplace listing, not fast first-draft creation
eBay's Magical Listing Built into the eBay platform A different approach; VoiceListAI is built around voice plus photos
VoiceListAI Voice and photos into a reviewable eBay draft eBay only, and you review every post

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

VoiceListAI is for eBay sellers who want to list faster and describe items by voice. It is not for sellers who need to list on several marketplaces at once, or who want a tool that posts without their review.

A good fit if you:

  • Resell items from thrift stores, estate sales and garage sales
  • Are clearing a closet or garage and have an unlisted pile
  • List dozens of items a week and need volume
  • Dislike typing or don't feel comfortable with technology

Not a fit if you:

  • Sell on marketplaces other than eBay and need cross-listing
  • Want listings posted automatically with no review
  • Expect every field filled in every time

What do you get with each plan?

VoiceListAI has two plans: Basic at $27 a month for up to 200 listings, and Pro at $45 a month for up to 500 listings. Drafts do not count toward your monthly listing limit.

  • Basic, $27 a month: voice and photo listing, up to 200 listings, for part-time and growing sellers
  • Pro, $45 a month: up to 500 listings, for full-time sellers with higher volume

Because drafts are free of the limit, you can prep a whole haul as drafts and post in one session. The article on listing eBay items in bulk using drafts shows how.

What are the limits to know about?

VoiceListAI speeds up the first draft, but it does not replace your judgment. Speed varies by seller and item, and the draft still needs your review before you post.

  • The founder, a 20-year eBay seller, reports going from about 5 minutes per listing to about 45 seconds.* Results vary, and this is not a guaranteed time.
  • It does not promise sales or sale prices.
  • Similar-item prices are asking prices, not sold prices.
  • Fields may be left empty when the AI isn't sure.
  • It works with eBay only.

*Based on the founder's own experience. Your results will vary.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an eBay listing from photos?

Take photos of the item, describe it out loud, and tap Analyze in VoiceListAI. The AI reads your photos and words and builds an eBay draft. You review the title, category, item specifics, condition notes and description, then post it yourself.

Do I have to talk, or can I type?

You can do either. Voice is faster for most sellers and helps you keep details like flaws and what's included. If you prefer typing, or you are somewhere quiet, you can type your description instead.

Does VoiceListAI post my listing automatically?

No. VoiceListAI creates a draft, and you review it and approve it before anything goes live. You always make the final decision on every post.

Does it fill in every item specific?

No. When the AI isn't sure about a field, it leaves it empty instead of guessing. That way you can fill it in yourself and avoid putting wrong details in your listing.

Can I record voice and photos at the same time on iPhone?

On iPhone, voice comes right after the camera closes, not during photo capture. You take your photos first, then describe the item. The iPhone article walks through it.

Are the similar-item prices sold prices?

No. The similar-item price check on eBay shows asking prices. Use it as a reference for what others are asking, not as a guarantee of what your item will sell for.

Do drafts count toward my monthly limit?

No. Drafts don't count toward your monthly listing limit. Basic includes up to 200 listings a month and Pro includes up to 500, so you can prepare many drafts and post them when you're ready.

Does VoiceListAI work with marketplaces other than eBay?

No. VoiceListAI is eBay only and does not cross-list to other marketplaces. It is built to create accurate eBay drafts using eBay's categories and allowed values.
